Question for Congress : Is this the way to tackle and remove corruption

From past few days people all over the country were witness to the arrogant behaviour of Government and Congress party. The autocratic ways to defame Team Anna was for everybody to watch and analyse. The statements from congress veterans Kapil Sibbal, Manish Tiwary etc were audacious.

And the day started with biggest blunder ever by government, they arrested the man who has caught the imagination of country, the symbol of crusader for justice. And the most ironical thing was to send him to Tihar jail, the same place where Rajas and Kalmadis of this world are spending their peaceful time. Things can’t be more wrong, more ironical.

Like most of the people in country, I too decided to show my solidarity with the movement. Just called few friends to join for protests outside Tihar Jail, everybody was more than wiling to come. And the scenes there were euphoric.  Thousands of people were there, people of all religions, people of all sections of society; they all were INDIANS angry with the corrupt system of the country.  The Sibbals and Tiwaris of arrogant world they live in were hooted badly. We all were very very angry and it showed in our protests.

As per the latest information, Government has bowed down and reversed the arrest orders. However Anna says that he won’t leave until given the permission to fast.

Let’s hope that the good sense prevails and government agrees to come back on negotiating table on Janlokpal Bill.  They now need to show the country that they are serious to remove corruption from country. They need to show the people that they are sensitive towards people’s concerns. The ball is in their court now.

Pakistan, Raymond Davis & Diyya Law

I don’t know but for some reason I have deep interest in political scene of our neighbouring country the country most of us perceive as enemy country, Pakistan.  Following all the dramatic recent developments of Raymond Davis, I came across the strange Islamic Diyya Law, but before going on that for the benefit of those who don’t follow all this let me give the background-

1)      Pakistan currently is a devastated country. Terrorist attacks are a common thing and many people die regularly in these attacks. Hardly a week passes without any major terrorist strike.
2)       The reason for this is they are fighting a war , fighting a war against their own people, fighting a war as US ally and killing own people daily in border areas (bordering Afghanistan) at the behest of US.  US in return give them some regular dollars to keep the country running. The political establishment of country from past 3 years is playing in US hands.
3)      Due to this there is strong ‘Anti America’ feeling in entire country. The people of Pakistan now see US as bigger enemy than India (this is really something as the country has lived on anti India feeling from past 60 years).

In this anti American society, Raymond Davis came into limelight as he killed 2 Pakistanis in the heart of country , Lahore. When the police arrested him he was having highly sophisticated weapons, some secret maps and things generally carried by spies.  Naturally the entire nation was stunned and demanded strict action against the ‘White’ man. Davis’s argument was that he is a diplomat and killed 2 men as they tried to rob him. Really not convincing at all.

As Pakistan media nowadays is as inquisitive and influential as media of any advanced country they were able to find out all the hidden facts that Raymond Davis was most probably an American spy. He was working for CIA and helping in drone attacks.

The Pakistani government was under intense pressure from US to give diplomatic immunity to Davis and release him. They would have done it first day (after all US are their masters and they can’t disobey the masters) but due to very high public pressure they arrested and started cases against him.  The drama continued for 6 weeks and when everybody thought that this time Pakistan has taken a hard stance and they will not let Davis go, the court settled the case in 1 day and using religious Diyya Law freed Davis. The man was immediately flew out of Pakistan and till the time stunned nation (general public, media, opposition) reacted Davis was back in US.  Really a shame for the country.

This brings me to the last part, the Diyya Law. I was amazed by this law , rather than existence of such law in 21st century. Mind you, this is not man made law, the law is as per holy book Quran and is a religious law. Hence there cannot be any discussions leave alone amendments to this thing. The law says that if you have killed anyone you can be freed of crime if you pay blood money to the victim of the family.

This law is applicable in Saudi Arabia , Iran and Pakistan. In a country like Pakistan I can imagine the magnitute of misuse of this law. This law is nothing but an official licence to kill. Raymond Davis case is the perfect example where some dollars were enough to buy the ‘Gairat’ of entire nation.

Saudis further have even prescribed the blood money rates which are as following-

  • 100,000 riyals if the victim is a Muslim man
  • 50,000 riyals if a Muslim woman
  • 50,000 riyals if a Christian or Jewish man
  • 25,000 riyals if a Christian or Jewish woman
  • 6,666 riyals if a man of any other religion
  • 3,333 riyals if a woman of any other religion

Pathetic, shocking and shameless rates to value the human life based on religion and gender. With above chart the cost of Hindu woman is 32 times cheaper than Muslim Man.  Saudis wake up; this is 21st century and modern civilized world, not the 10th century tribal world.

If you have reached here, I appreciate your patience to read the entire article. Maybe not relevant to us in any way but fascinating and shocking. Comments are welcome.

Arundhati Roy -- Hysterical Annoying Character

Recently this lady was in news, as usual for wrong reasons, as usual for being anti Indian. At a seminar in Delhi named "Azadi – The only way"  where Roy took part with Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani she was reported to have said that "Kashmir should get azadi from bhookhe-nange Hindustan".

I had never followed any news relating to her in past ; always though that she is not important. But this time around it seems that the soft Indian establishment which can tolerate anything was also fed up. There were talks there she will be facing sedition charges but as usual the matter died and nothing happened.

This time I was really amazed that how someone sitting in capital of country talk about Maoist support, Kashmir azaadi and anything and everything which is anti Indian. Why don’t we take a hard step to shut up this lady?

Check on youtube, there is a series of interviews which she has given to international media. She repeats all the allegations in interviews. The crux of her allegations are-

Ø     India is a militarized state. Indian governments have forcibly occupied Kashmir and it should be freed.

Ø     The Indian Government-Big Industrialists nexus is trying to capture all the tribal areas of the country. Maoists resistance is obstacle in their aim so Indian establishment is trying too wipe out the tribal population of the country. According to her, as per Indian government tribals are not the consumer population; they are what she calls ‘Superfluous Eaters’. They are simply not required.

See this video link; she is too convinced about the things she says. The way she talks can influence and make many people think like her.

My personal opinion is she is pessimistic lady obsessed with anti nationalism. She exaggerates the issues to make her point. Any discussion or arguments with her are futile, a sedition case  should be filed against her and every possible step within the democratic framework should be taken to SHUT UP this lady.

My Journey starts today.............

From a long time I was thinking to start a blog to express my views. I feel that the best thing about writing the blog is you can write/express anything and everything. There is no fixed pattern to follow. As someone said; writing a blog is like going on a indefinite, unplanned walk; with no predetermined finish time or route.

I don’t know how regular will I be, but yes, at times I am urged to express myself/vent the anger and I believe blog will be my medium for this.

I welcome myself to the vast world of blogging.
